Position Description:
SUPERINTENDENT JOB DESCRIPTION   The Superintendent position at Hughes Construction Corporation operates in the role of a working supervisor who coordinates and directs the field employees. They also interact with and coordinate subcontractors while striving to meet the client's requirements and expectations while maintaining production goals and quality that Hughes Construction Corporation is known for in the industry. The Superintendent reports to the assigned Project Manager(s) and indirectly to the President.   PHYSICAL  
  • Must be physically capable of loading and unloading vehicles.
 
  • Must be able to operate tools and equipment in a safe manner.
 
  • Must be to able stand for long periods of time.
 
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy tools.
 
  • Must have correctable eyesight, depth perception and not be colorblind.
 
  • Must be in sound physical condition and able to perform a physically demanding job.
  ATTENDANCE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT  
  • Must be willing to work within a 70-mile radius of Clarksville, Tennessee
 
  • The work is primarily scheduled and performed at the customer’s location hence attendance and timeliness are extremely important. Some hours will be spent in a controlled temperature office doing reports and managing schedules.
 
  • May require long hours and may include evening and weekend work during the busy season.
 
  • There could be exposure to dust, chemical fumes, smoke, and medium to loud noise levels.
 
  • Will be required to drive company vehicles in hazardous weather conditions.
 
  • Maintain a professional appearance by engaging in daily hygiene practices, keeping clothes clean and presentable, and dresses for managerial field environment.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  
  • Direct the activities of employees reporting to this position to include making work assignments and making the most effective use of their time and talents.
 
  • Work to ensure and maintain a zero-accident work environment.
 
  • Prepare and submit for review: production, safety, time, and other reports, as necessary.
 
  • Ability to organize, sequence and perform assigned tasks within schedule.
 
  • Effectively communicate and understand both verbal and written instructions.
 
  • Building Layout & Elevations.
 
  • Read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills, and perform layout.
 
  • Prepare and implement duty lists for employees.
 
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager all inspections needed by the A&E team or other owner representatives.
 
  • Coordinate all field inspections with local, State, and Federal codes inspections.
 
  • Audit and review work done by employees and subcontractors for quality/completeness.
 
  • Maintain daily and weekly time reports for reporting employees.
 
  • Ensure the efficiency of the methods used in the installation process.
 
  • Inspect company equipment for safety problems; coordinate the necessary repair work with the Project Manager.
 
  • Supervise the use and control of parts, supplies, and equipment.
 
  • Monitor work practices to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY  
  • Evaluate, discipline, and recommend termination action on reporting employees. However, all termination action must be reviewed and have prior approval of the President.
 
  • The quality, quantity, and completeness of all work performed for the customer.
 
  • The timely completion of all work to meet customer requirements.
  • Enforcing company policies and procedures.
 
  • Ensuring safety policies are adhered to.
 
  • Minimization of waste and rework; ensuring that good housekeeping is practiced.
 
  • Ensuring the necessary supplies and equipment are available.
 
  • Ensuring that employees are productive and that overtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Completing and returning all paperwork and reports.
 
  • The security of company tooling, equipment, supplies, and personnel assigned to him. Returning tooling, equipment, and unused supplies to designated storage areas.
 
  • Ensuring that employees do not abuse break/lunchtimes.
  DUTIES AND TASKS  
  • Document daily activities in Plan/Build, to include all manpower on site, equipment, materials, visitors, etc.
 
  • Direct/train/control employees on correct methods and procedures for installation on assigned jobs.
 
  • Review/supervise the work of team members to ensure it is done well and completely.
 
  • Assist in retraining employees as necessary to ensure proper completion of the work.
 
  • Complete and return all paperwork and reports daily.
 
  • Notify the Project Manager of the progress/status/problems with materials or daily workload.
 
  • Keep employees working.
 
  • Report all accidents promptly per company policy.
 
  • Ensure the cleanliness, neatness and orderliness of all equipment and facilities.
 
  • Ensure that employees have, are properly instructed in, and use necessary protective and safety equipment.
 
  • Dispose of all waste products in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws, rules, and ordinances.
 
  • All other duties deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
